This is not a typical senior engineering role.
You will own the core architecture and implementation, set the bar for engineering excellence, and solve the most complex technical challenges in a highly secure, regulated environment.

What you will be doing:
  • Personally design, code, and optimize high-throughput backend systems running 24/7
  • Write production code powering: Trading pipelines / Clearing & settlement systems / Funding infrastructure / Custody workflows
  • Ensure systems operate at 100k+ TPS with ultra-low latency
  • Debug low-level performance bottlenecks and latency issues
  • Optimize memory usage, garbage collection, and concurrency behavior
  • Guarantee data consistency across distributed systems
  • Define technical specifications for: Microservices architectures / Event-driven systems / API standards
  • Produce detailed design documentation that engineering teams build against
  • Set the standard for code quality and engineering rigor
  • Lead deep technical code reviews
  • Establish CI/CD patterns and best practices
  • Mentor senior engineers technically (not people management)
  • Design for fault tolerance and observability
  • Work hands-on with: Kafka-based event pipelines / Kubernetes infrastructure
  • Ensure mission-critical uptime and system reliability
  • Actively leverage AI tools for engineering acceleration: LLM-assisted coding / Automated test generation / Intelligent debugging workflows
  • Help define what future-ready AI engineering looks like
What you will bring:
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong track record of staying hands-on in production code
  • Expert-level proficiency in: Scala/Java/Go
  • You should be comfortable discussing: Memory management / Concurrency models / JVM tuning
  • Strong understanding of: CAP theorem & consistency models / Event streaming architectures / Cloud-native infrastructure on: AWS / Microsoft Azure / Google Cloud
Environment Experience
  • Experience building secure systems in:
  • FinTech
  • Crypto / Digital Assets
  • HealthTech
  • Defense or similar regulated sectors
AI Engineering Tools
  • Hands-on daily usage of: Copilot / Cursor
  • Similar AI-assisted development tools
Nice to have:
  • Blockchain integrations or custody/wallet infrastructure experience
  • Matching engines, risk engines, or high-frequency trading systems
  • Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects
